When companies approach us about growing their teams in Latin America, the conversation often starts with cost.That makes sense. Hiring internationally can help businesses expand their capabilities while keeping spending under control. But the hiring decisions that deliver the most value go beyond finding the lowest price.They start with understanding what the business needs, recognizing which candidate strengths matter most, and creating the conditions for new team members to succeed.Here are six mistakes we see companies make—and how to avoid them.

1. Setting the budget without comparing the full cost
Companies often take their U.S. salary budget, reduce it by 40% or more, and use that number as their target for a LATAM hire.The problem is that they may be comparing a U.S. base salary with an all-inclusive outsourcing budget.Consider a company willing to pay a U.S. customer success manager an $80,000 annual salary. Its costs extend beyond that salary to include employer payroll taxes, insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefits.For context, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that wages represented 70% of private-sector employer compensation costs in June 2026, while benefits accounted for 30%. Applying that broad ratio to $80,000 in wages produces an illustrative annual compensation cost of approximately $114,300. Actual costs vary by location, benefits package, and compensation structure; this is a planning benchmark rather than a role-specific estimate. Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor StatisticsAgainst that benchmark:

A $40,000 all-inclusive LATAM budget represents approximately 65% in savings.

A $50,000 budget still represents approximately 56% in savings.

A $60,000 budget still represents approximately 47% in savings. These comparisons assume the LATAM price includes applicable employment costs and provider fees. The scope of the proposal matters.

The opportunity is worth considering: increasing the budget from $40,000 to $50,000 or $60,000 may expand access to candidates with deeper experience, stronger leadership skills, or greater ability to work independently - while preserving substantial savings.That does not mean a higher budget automatically guarantees a better hire. It means companies should evaluate what the additional investment could buy.Before setting the lowest possible budget, ask what level of talent you could access while still saving roughly half your U.S. employment cost.
2. Giving every requirement the same importance
Companies understandably want candidates with relevant experience. For a customer success role, that might mean industry knowledge, a record of reducing churn, and an ability to grow existing accounts.Then the list expands.The candidate must also know the exact CRM, ticketing platform, reporting software, and other systems the company uses.The problem is rarely any single requirement. It is the assumption that all requirements deserve equal weight.A professional who has managed difficult customer relationships, protected major renewals, and consistently identified expansion opportunities deserves serious consideration – even if they have used a different CRM.We encourage companies to distinguish between:

Essential capabilities: The judgment, communication skills, and functional expertise needed to do the job.

Valuable experience: Industry familiarity or exposure to similar customers and business models.

Teachable skills: Specific software, internal workflows, and company terminology.

That distinction makes interviews more useful. Instead of spending most of the conversation checking tool familiarity, explore how the candidate solved problems, made decisions, and delivered results.Some technical roles genuinely require deep expertise in a particular platform. But when software is simply a tool for doing the work, familiarity should not outweigh a strong record of performance.Hire for the capabilities that are hardest to develop, and provide a plan for the skills that can be learned.

3. Treating outsourced professionals as outsiders
Companies sometimes hire capable people and then keep them at the edges of the team.They leave them out of relevant meetings, limit access to information, provide little coaching, or overlook them when recognizing contributions and assigning new responsibilities.Then they wonder why those professionals are not more engaged.Our view is straightforward: if your company cannot integrate outsourced talent into its daily work, it is not ready to get the full value of outsourcing.People need the tools, context, feedback, and relationships that make good performance possible. They need to understand company priorities and how their work contributes to them.Include them in relevant planning conversations. Give them access to the information their role requires. Establish regular coaching and recognize strong performance. Build appropriate incentives and opportunities for growth into the relationship.Employment arrangements may differ, but respect and management quality should be consistent.If you expect someone to take ownership, give them the context, support, and authority to do so.A successful team is built through everyday decisions about who gets included, who gets heard, and who gets the opportunity to contribute.
4. Hiring before defining what success looks like
Sometimes a company knows its team is overwhelmed but has not clearly identified what the new hire should own.The job description becomes a collection of everything that needs attention: customer relationships, support escalations, renewals, expansion, reporting, onboarding, and perhaps some sales work.That makes it difficult to find the right candidate—and difficult for anyone hired to meet expectations.Before opening the search, answer three questions:

What business problem is this person being hired to solve?

Which responsibilities will they own, and where will they support others?

What should good progress look like after 30, 60, and 90 days?

For a customer success manager, early expectations might include taking ownership of a defined account portfolio, understanding customer goals, identifying renewal risks, and establishing a consistent engagement rhythm.Clear expectations help recruiters assess candidates and help candidates decide whether the role fits their strengths.They also create a fair basis for evaluating performance. A CSM can influence retention, but product reliability, customer fit, pricing, and implementation also affect churn.Define a role that one person can realistically succeed in, with outcomes they have the ability to influence.
5. Expecting experience to replace onboarding
An experienced professional still needs a thoughtful introduction to your business.They may know how to manage customers, lead projects, or build processes. They do not yet know your product, customer commitments, internal relationships, or decision-making practices.Without that context, even a strong hire can spend the first few weeks guessing.Effective onboarding starts before the person joins. Prepare their access, assign an onboarding owner, schedule key introductions, and establish initial priorities.Then provide the practical exposure they need: product training, customer-call shadowing, examples of strong work, and regular conversations with their manager.For a CSM, an early milestone might be accurately explaining a customer’s objectives and risks. The next could be preparing an account plan, followed by leading a customer review with support.Responsibility should expand as understanding grows.Avoid interpreting every early question as a lack of seniority. Experienced professionals often ask detailed questions because they understand the consequences of making assumptions.You hired their experience. Onboarding helps them apply it to your business.
6. Keeping recruiters too far from the hiring manager
A job description explains the role. Direct conversation with the hiring manager reveals the nuances that make someone the right fit.Hiring managers bring valuable experience into a search: what worked with previous hires, where others struggled, what customers expect, and which strengths would complement the current team.Much of that knowledge never makes it into a written brief.Give the recruiters supporting your search direct access to the hiring manager, starting with a conversation that goes beyond reviewing requirements.Discuss the situations the new hire will face. Explore which tradeoffs the manager is willing to make. Ask what distinguished previous high performers and what the manager would approach differently this time.Keep that dialogue open as interviews begin.Feedback such as “not senior enough” gives a recruiter little direction. Explaining that a candidate struggled to describe how they handled an executive escalation provides something concrete to assess in future interviews.Likewise, when a candidate impresses the manager, explain why. That feedback may reveal a strength that deserves more weight in the search.When every exchange passes through an intermediary, important details can get lost. Recruiters may continue presenting candidates who match the written requirements but miss the manager’s actual needs.Direct access helps recruiters identify stronger matches, saves interview time, and shortens the path to a successful hire.The more clearly your recruiting partner understands the hiring manager’s priorities, the more effectively they can represent those priorities in the market.

Build your hiring strategy around contribution
Hiring in LATAM offers an opportunity to bring talented professionals into your business while maintaining a meaningful cost advantage.Realizing that opportunity takes more than agreeing on a rate and filling an opening.Compare full costs. Prioritize the capabilities that matter. Define a realistic role. Connect recruiters with the hiring manager. Then give the person you hire the onboarding, support, and inclusion needed to succeed.The question we encourage companies to ask is simple:Who can make the contribution our business needs, and how can we set them up to deliver it?That is where stronger hiring decisions – and stronger teams – begin.
Continue Exploring
What is White-Box Outsourcing? The Revenue Advantage of Hiring SDRs in LATAM How to Hire The Right Customer Support Professionals in LATAM Hire Project Managers in LATAM How Much Does a CSM Cost in Latin America? Hire Implementation Specialists in LATAM Ready to explore what a LATAM team could look like for your company?Schedule a 30-minute free conversation with us to discuss your hiring needs, potential roles, and how Altrio can help you find and retain exceptional talent across Latin America.

Six Hiring Mistakes That Keep You From Stronger LATAM Teams

EOR vs. White-Box Outsourcing in LATAM

How U.S. Companies Hire RevOps Specialists in LATAM

For more than two decades, I have helped American and multinational companies build businesses and teams across Latin America and other international markets. That has included supporting companies as they expanded into new markets, established local operations, and, increasingly, built LATAM-based teams to support their U.S. and global businesses. I have hired local professionals, managed multicultural teams, and worked with customers and colleagues across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.One lesson has become increasingly clear to me: building a successful team in Latin America is not simply a matter of finding good people in a lower-cost market.The difficult part isn't finding the talent.The difficult part is building an environment where that talent can perform, grow and become genuinely integrated into the business.That distinction is becoming more important as U.S. companies increasingly look to Latin America for remote talent. Recent data from Nearshore Americas has shown strong international demand for professionals in countries such as Colombia and Brazil, including customer support and customer success roles alongside technology positions. The question, then, is no longer simply “Where can I find talent?”It is:“How do I build a high-performing team with that talent?”Here are the lessons I would share with any U.S. company starting that journey.
1. Start with the business need, not the country
One of the first mistakes companies make is choosing the location before defining the role.“We want to hire in Colombia.”“Should we build our team in Brazil?”“Is Mexico better for this function?”Those can be useful questions, but they shouldn't be the first ones.The first question should be:What do we need this team to accomplish?A company looking for Project Manager may have a very different location strategy from one building Customer Success, Technical Support, Sales Development or RevOps teams.The talent market should follow the business requirement.I learned this while working across multiple international markets. There is no single “best” country for every function. The right location depends on the combination of skills, language, experience, availability, time zone and business environment required for the role.The goal isn't to build a LATAM team.The goal is to build the right team, and LATAM may be where the right talent is.
2. Don't hire only for technical skills
A strong resumé can tell you whether someone has done a job before.It doesn't tell you whether they will succeed in your organization.This becomes particularly important when building distributed teams.When I evaluate professionals for international teams, I look beyond technical competence. I want to understand how someone communicates, how independently they operate, how they respond to ambiguity, whether they take ownership and how they collaborate with people from different backgrounds.Those characteristics become even more important when a manager and employee are thousands of miles apart.A technically excellent professional who requires constant supervision may be a poor fit for a distributed organization.Meanwhile, someone who combines technical ability with autonomy, communication and ownership can become one of the strongest members of a global team.Hire for the way the person will work, not only for what they already know.
3. Hire for the qualities that predict future performance
Experience matters. But I have learned not to confuse experience with potential. When we evaluate candidates, I want to understand not only what they have accomplished, but how they became successful and how likely they are to continue growing. There are a few characteristics I pay particular attention to. Coachability. How does the person respond to feedback? Can they listen, process a different point of view and adjust their approach? One of the best indicators is not whether someone gives the perfect answer in an interview, but whether their answer improves after receiving feedback. Curiosity. Strong candidates ask good questions. They want to understand the business, the customer and the reason behind the work. Curiosity is particularly important in distributed teams because managers cannot anticipate every situation or provide instructions for every decision. A history of success. I look for evidence that someone has performed well relative to the environment they were in. That doesn't necessarily mean they need to have held the exact same title before. Success can show up in many ways: being promoted, exceeding a goal, taking on additional responsibility, solving a difficult problem or becoming someone others relied on. Learning agility. The best people can absorb new information, connect ideas and become productive in unfamiliar situations. This often matters more than having experience with every tool or system a company currently uses. And finally, work ethic. Talent matters, but so does the willingness to prepare, follow through and consistently do the work required to produce a result. I look for examples of persistence and personal accountability rather than simply asking someone whether they are a hard worker. None of these qualities replaces technical competence. But when two candidates have comparable skills, I will usually favor the person who demonstrates coachability, curiosity, a pattern of achievement, the ability to learn quickly and a strong work ethic. Skills can be developed. Those underlying characteristics often determine how far someone will go.
4. Don't create a “LATAM team.” Create one global team.
This may be the most important lesson of all.I've managed multicultural teams with professionals working across different countries and regions. The strongest teams were not the ones where everyone worked in the same location.They were the ones where everyone understood that they were working toward the same objectives.It is surprisingly easy for companies to create two organizations without realizing it:The U.S. teamandThe LATAM team.The moment that happens, problems start to appear.Information flows differently. Meetings become divided. Career opportunities become uneven. One group becomes the “core” organization and the other becomes the “remote” organization.That is not a location problem.It is a management problem.A LATAM professional should have the same clarity around:

company objectives;

team KPIs;

customer expectations;

access to information;

management support;

career development;

recognition.

The geography may be different. The team should not be.
5. Give people ownership, not just tasks
There is a major difference between asking someone to execute a process and giving them ownership of an outcome.Consider Customer Success.A company can tell a LATAM CSM:“Handle these accounts and respond to customer requests.”Or it can say:“You own adoption, customer health and retention for this portfolio.”Those are fundamentally different jobs.The second creates accountability.This applies across functions.A support professional shouldn't simply be measured on the number of tickets closed. A sales development representative shouldn't simply be measured on the number of calls made. An implementation specialist shouldn't simply be measured on tasks completed.Whenever possible, connect people's work to the outcome the business cares about.This is especially important in international teams because ownership creates a stronger connection between the individual and the organization.
6. Don't underestimate the importance of local leadership
International expansion creates an interesting paradox.Companies want local talent because that talent understands the local market. Yet they sometimes try to manage that talent entirely from headquarters.I've experienced the complexity of international expansion firsthand, including establishing operations and hiring local resources in different countries. In my experience, local knowledge becomes particularly valuable when it is connected to global leadership rather than isolated from it. Local leaders can provide context that headquarters may not have:how the local talent market works; what motivates employees; cultural nuances; local business practices; market-specific challenges; how to communicate effectively with the team. That doesn't mean creating a completely independent local organization.It means creating a bridge between the global company and the local team.
7. Treat communication as infrastructure
When teams are distributed, communication cannot depend on people simply “figuring it out.”It needs structure.I've seen this repeatedly in multicultural organizations: communication problems are rarely caused by one big misunderstanding. They are usually the accumulation of dozens of small gaps.Someone wasn't included in a meeting.A decision wasn't documented.A manager assumed another team had received the information.A local employee didn't feel comfortable challenging a decision made at headquarters.Over time, these small gaps become operational problems.High-performing distributed teams need deliberate communication systems:What gets communicated?Where?To whom?How quickly?Who makes the decision?These questions may sound administrative, but they are actually part of the operating model.
8. Retention starts before the person is hired
Companies often think about retention after someone has already joined. By then, it may be too late.Retention begins with the hiring process.

Did the candidate understand the role?

Were expectations realistic?

Was the compensation structure clear?

Did the company explain how the person would work with the U.S. team?

Did the manager establish what success looks like?

And after hiring:

Does the employee have a meaningful onboarding experience?

Do they understand the company's strategy?

Can they see a career path?

Do they receive feedback?

Do they feel like a member of the company rather than an external resource?

These questions matter because Latin American talent is no longer competing only for local opportunities. International remote work has expanded the number of companies competing for the same professionals.Recent research and industry reporting also suggest that retention is increasingly influenced by factors beyond compensation, including flexibility, psychological security, trust and stability. Pay can attract someone. It rarely creates long-term commitment by itself.
9. Don't make cost the strategy
Cost is obviously one of the reasons companies look to Latin America.But it should not become the entire business case.If the only reason you're hiring in LATAM is because someone costs less than an equivalent U.S. employee, you are building a fragile strategy.Someone will eventually offer that person more money.A stronger business case is:

Can I access high-quality talent, build a productive team

Maintain proximity to my customers and business

And do it more efficiently than I could by hiring exclusively in my home market?

That's a different question.And it changes how you manage the team.You're no longer looking at LATAM as a source of labor arbitrage.You're looking at it as a strategic talent market.The outsourcing industry itself has been wrestling with this evolution. Nearshore Americas has noted the traditional reliance on labor arbitrage while highlighting the need for the industry to move toward higher-value services and stronger talent strategies.
10. Choose the right operating model
There isn't one correct way to build a LATAM team.A company can:

Use a white-box model;

Establish its own local entity;

Use an Employer of Record;

Work with a staffing or outsourcing partner;

Build a hybrid structure. The right answer depends on the company's size, objectives, risk tolerance, expected headcount and desired level of control.

What matters is understanding the trade-off.If a U.S. SaaS company is hiring one or two people in LATAM and wants to move quickly, and doesn't want an embedded professional, Employer of Record may be the right choice. If the company plans to build a large, permanent operation in the region, establishing its own entity may make more sense.But consider a company that wants to build a team of Customer Success Managers in LATAM to support its U.S. customers. It wants the professionals to work full-time and exclusively for the company, use its systems and processes, participate in its meetings, follow its culture, and be managed directly by its Customer Success leadership - but it doesn't want to establish a legal entity or take on the administrative complexity of employing people in another country.This is where a white-box model can make sense.The company maintains day-to-day control over the team and treats the professionals as an extension of its own organization, while the outsourcing partner handles the employment infrastructure, including contracts, payroll, local compliance, and HR administration.For customer-facing or business-critical functions, this distinction can be particularly important. The goal isn't simply to access talent at a lower cost. It's to build a team that is deeply integrated into the company's culture, systems, and goals - while choosing an operating model that makes that possible.The model should serve the team - not the other way around.
11. Measure the team like any other part of the business
Finally, don't create a separate definition of performance because the team is in LATAM.If a U.S. employee is measured on revenue, customer retention, productivity or customer satisfaction, the LATAM employee should not be measured primarily on how many tasks they complete.Measure outcomes.For a Customer Success team:

retention;

expansion;

adoption;

customer health;

time-to-value.

For Support:

resolution time;

customer satisfaction;

escalation rate;

first-contact resolution.

For Sales:

qualified pipeline;

conversion;

revenue;

sales cycle.

For Operations:

productivity;

quality;

efficiency;

process improvement.

The location should not determine the standard.
The real opportunity in LATAM
I've spent much of my career working across borders, building teams and operating businesses in different markets. My experience has convinced me that international expansion works best when companies stop thinking about geography as the center of the strategy.Geography gives you access.Hiring gives you people.But management, integration and ownership create a high-performing team.LATAM offers U.S. companies an increasingly sophisticated talent opportunity. Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and other markets are no longer simply sources of lower-cost labor. They can be strategic locations for customer-facing, operational, commercial and technology teams.But companies need to approach them accordingly.The companies that get the most from LATAM won't necessarily be the ones that hire the most people there.They'll be the ones that build the best teams.
About the autor:
Luiz Martins is CEO of Altrio Consulting and a technology and business executive with over 20 years of experience in international operations, sales, marketing, and team building. Building & Managing High-Performing LATAM Teams

A support backlog that keeps growing, implementation projects waiting for capacity, and engineering hiring cycles that stretch for months are not minor staffing issues. They are operating constraints. This embedded team model review is for SaaS and technology leaders deciding whether a dedicated nearshore team can solve those constraints without creating a disconnected outsourced function.The right model can add capable, full-time professionals quickly while preserving the standards, visibility, and customer experience your business depends on. The wrong model can create another layer of management, unclear accountability, and turnover that erases the initial savings. The difference comes down to how the team is built, integrated, and supported after the offer is signed.
What an Embedded Team Model Actually Means
An embedded team is a group of dedicated professionals who work as an extension of your internal organization. They use your tools, follow your processes, report into your leaders, and contribute to the same business outcomes as domestic employees. The arrangement may include employer-side infrastructure, local compliance coordination, payroll administration, and ongoing in-country support, but the day-to-day work belongs inside your operating model.That distinction matters. An embedded customer success manager should understand your product, participate in account planning, and represent your brand with customers. An embedded engineer should work in your delivery cadence, codebase, and quality standards. If the provider owns the work, assigns tasks, and shifts people between accounts, you are buying an outsourced service. That can be appropriate for tightly defined, variable work. It is not the same as building durable internal capacity.For most growth-stage companies, the embedded model works best when the need is ongoing and strategically connected to customer retention, product delivery, revenue execution, or operational scale.
The Core Business Case: Capacity Without Losing Control
Domestic hiring remains expensive and slow for many customer-facing and technical roles. A single open position can take months to fill, especially when leaders need proven SaaS experience, strong written communication, and the ability to work across functions from day one.An embedded team model changes the equation by giving companies access to full-time talent in Latin America at a lower cost than comparable U.S. hiring. For U.S. teams, the time-zone alignment is practical: real-time collaboration, live customer coverage, faster handoffs, and less reliance on overnight workflows. The commercial benefit is meaningful, but cost alone should not drive the decision.The stronger case is operational. You can scale implementation specialists, support professionals, project managers, sales development representatives, or customer success without treating these roles as temporary labor. When the people are selected for technical capability and cultural fit, then onboarded into your systems and leadership rhythm, they can take ownership rather than merely close tickets or complete assigned tasks.That said, lower cost does not remove the need for management. An embedded team is not a hands-off answer to a leadership gap. It gives a capable manager more leverage. It does not replace clear priorities, documentation, feedback, and performance standards.

Embedded Team Model Review: Where It Fits Best
The model is particularly effective when work is recurring, collaboration-heavy, and close to a core business function. Customer success, onboarding, technical support, implementation, revenue operations, program management, analytics, sales, and software engineering are common fits because continuity compounds over time.Consider a SaaS company adding 150 customers a quarter. Hiring a rotating pool of external onboarding resources may address immediate volume, but the company loses product knowledge every time a contributor changes. An embedded implementation team, by contrast, learns the platform, common integration issues, customer profiles, and internal escalation paths. Over several quarters, that accumulated context improves time to value and reduces pressure on senior leaders.The same pattern applies to support. If your support function needs coverage but also needs people who can identify recurring defects, improve help content, and communicate customer feedback to product teams, dedicated embedded hires are usually a better fit than a transaction-based service model.The model is less compelling for short, highly specialized projects with a fixed end date or for work that is truly unpredictable. In those cases, a project engagement or fractional specialist may be more economical. Leaders should not force a long-term employment model onto a six-week problem.
The Trade-Offs Leaders Should Assess Early
A credible review should examine risks as directly as benefits. The first trade-off is speed versus role definition. You may be able to receive vetted candidates in weeks rather than months, but hiring fast into a poorly defined role still produces a poor hire. Before beginning a search, define the outcomes, core responsibilities, seniority, working hours, reporting line, and measures of success.The second is cost versus capability. Lower labor costs can tempt companies to overstaff junior roles when one experienced hire would create more impact. Start with the work that requires judgment, customer context, or cross-functional coordination. Build the team around the capabilities that move the business forward, not the lowest available hourly rate.Third is distributed capacity versus inclusion. A team member can be geographically close and still be operationally isolated. If LATAM hires are left out of planning meetings, product updates, and informal decisions, they cannot perform like an extension of the company. Inclusion is a management practice, not a welcome-message exercise.Finally, consider accountability. You need visibility into who is hired, what they earn, how they are performing, and what support is available when an issue arises. Opaque arrangements make it difficult to manage quality and retention. A white-box model gives leaders a direct view of the team and creates clear ownership on both sides.

What a Strong Partner Should Handle
The value of a team-building partner is not simply access to resumes. It is the ability to reduce execution risk across the hiring lifecycle. A strong partner should help sharpen the role definition, source relevant candidates, assess technical and communication skills, evaluate culture fit, coordinate interviews, and support onboarding.After the hire, the work continues. Cross-border employment involves local market knowledge, compliance coordination, compensation guidance, and practical support for team members. Those details affect retention. A provider that disappears after placement leaves the client to solve predictable problems without local infrastructure.Ask direct questions about the operating model. Who employs the professional? Who manages daily performance? How are compensation, benefits, and local requirements handled? What happens if a hire is not working out? How does the partner support engagement over time? Clear answers signal a mature model. Vague promises about access to talent do not.At Altrio Consulting, the objective is to help clients build full-time LATAM capacity that operates inside their business, not beside it. That requires candidate quality, transparent hiring support, and ongoing attention to retention. Fast hiring matters, but a hire that stays, grows, and produces results matters more.
How to Launch an Embedded Team Without Creating Friction
The first 30 days determine whether new capacity becomes productive or becomes another source of drag. Start by assigning an accountable internal leader. This person should own priorities, feedback, and role clarity, even if a partner manages employment infrastructure.Give each new hire a defined ramp plan. For a customer success hire, that might include product certification, account reviews, call shadowing, and a small initial book of business. For an engineer, it may include environment setup, architecture documentation, a starter backlog, code review norms, and clear release expectations. Generic orientation rarely produces reliable performance.Build the same management rhythm you would use for an internal employee: weekly one-on-ones, team meetings, written goals, and regular performance conversations. Be deliberate about access to customer context and company decisions. The more critical the role, the less acceptable it is to treat the person as a remote pair of hands.Use a small scorecard from the beginning. Measures vary by function, but should connect to business outcomes: implementation time to value, support resolution quality, renewal risk coverage, pipeline contribution, project delivery, product quality, or cycle time. Track results and engagement together. A high-performing team member who sees no path for growth is still a retention risk.
The Decision Standard
Choose an embedded team model when you need sustained capability, direct operational control, and people who will carry your company knowledge forward. Avoid it when the work is brief, loosely connected to your core operations, or unsupported by internal leadership.The most useful question is not, “Can we hire this role for less?” It is, “Can this person become a dependable part of how we serve customers and execute?” If the answer is yes, build the role with the same care you would apply to any high-impact internal hire. The team structure should make growth easier to manage, not easier to explain away.
Continue Exploring
If you’re considering building or expanding a team in Latin America, these resources are a great place to start:

What is White-Box Outsourcing?

Building and Managing Remote Teams: A Guide for SaaS Leaders

LATAM hiring compliance for US Companies explained

The Revenue Advantage of Hiring SDRs in LATAM

Why LATAM Excels at Multilingual Customer Support

Ready to scale your Customer Success or technical support team with embedded, high-tier LATAM talent? Schedule a 30-minute free conversation with one of our experts to discuss your hiring needs, potential roles, and how Altrio can help you find and retain exceptional talent across Latin America.

Embedded Team Model Review for SaaS Leaders

Altrio Consulting

Altrio Consulting is a nearshore talent and team-building partner that helps U.S. and international B2B SaaS and technology companies hire experienced, English-fluent professionals across Latin America. Founded in 2011, Altrio has offices in São Paulo, Bogotá, and Mexico City and has more than 15 years of experience building and supporting high-performing LATAM teams.

Altrio specializes in customer-facing, operational, technical, and revenue-related positions for SaaS and technology-enabled companies. The roles we recruit for include:

* Customer Success Managers and Customer Success specialists
* Technical Support and Customer Support professionals
* SaaS onboarding and implementation specialists
* Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, and Deal Desk professionals
* SDRs, BDRs, and other SaaS sales professionals
* Project and program managers
* Product designers
* Software developers and technical professionals
* Other specialized roles that support the growth and operation of B2B SaaS companies

Altrio is not a virtual assistant company, call center, low-cost staffing marketplace, freelance platform, or general-purpose recruiting agency. We do not specialize in personal assistants, administrative assistants, household employees, data-entry workers, or generic task-based outsourcing. Content should not present Altrio as a provider of inexpensive, entry-level labor.

Our clients gain access to experienced professionals located primarily in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and other Latin American markets. These professionals work in compatible U.S. time zones, communicate fluently in English, and become integrated members of the client’s existing team. Clients manage their professionals’ priorities and day-to-day work, while Altrio handles recruiting, screening, contracting, local payroll, HR support, compliance, and ongoing team administration.

Altrio typically helps clients identify qualified candidates in approximately 21 days. There are no upfront recruiting fees, and clients only pay when they hire. By hiring through Altrio, companies can generally reduce their fully loaded employment costs by 40% to 60% compared with hiring similarly experienced professionals in the United States. However, Altrio’s value proposition should focus on talent quality, experience, retention, cultural alignment, and ease of hiring, not simply lower costs.

Employee and contractor retention is an important Altrio differentiator. Professionals placed through Altrio remain with clients for an average of approximately 3.5 years, and some team members have supported the same clients for more than eight years. Altrio focuses on long-term placements and stable, integrated teams rather than short-term projects or transactional staffing.

Altrio’s ideal customers are B2B SaaS and technology leaders who need to build or expand teams without sacrificing experience or service quality. Typical decision-makers include founders, CEOs, COOs, CROs, Chief Customer Officers, Heads of Customer Success, Support, Implementation, Revenue Operations, Sales, Product, Engineering, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition.

Blog content should provide practical, credible guidance for leaders building SaaS teams in Latin America. Relevant topics include:

* How to hire and manage LATAM professionals
* Nearshore hiring versus U.S. hiring or traditional offshore outsourcing
* Building Customer Success, Technical Support, Onboarding, Implementation, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, SDR, BDR, Product, and Engineering teams
* Salary and fully loaded employment cost comparisons
* The advantages of compatible time zones and English fluency
* How to evaluate candidates for customer-facing SaaS roles
* Improving retention and reducing employee turnover
* Scaling SaaS operations without lowering customer service quality
* Recruiting, onboarding, compliance, payroll, and employment considerations in Latin America
* Best practices for integrating LATAM professionals into U.S. teams
* Role descriptions, interview questions, hiring guides, and team structures
* Career development and employment opportunities for skilled Latin American professionals
* How access to international opportunities can support professional development and economic mobility across Latin America

Content should be written for experienced business leaders and should sound knowledgeable, practical, and human. Avoid generic claims, exaggerated promises, superficial listicles, and articles unrelated to Altrio’s actual services. Every article should help a SaaS or technology leader make a better decision about hiring, managing, or expanding a team in Latin America.
